Department of Arts and Humanities

The Department of Arts and Humanities was established in 2013 with an interdisciplinary approach, combining Journalism and Psychology to nurture a well-rounded educational experience for students. By integrating psychology to understand human behavior and journalism to foster awareness of global issues, we aim to cultivate responsible and insightful individuals ready to navigate the complexities of the world. Recognizing the demand for both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the professional realm, the psychology department offers a range of courses such as Foundation of Psychology, Foundation of Behavior, Child Development, Developmental Psychology, Social Psychology, and Health Psychology. Similarly, the journalism program is designed to equip students with advanced communication skills, moral integrity, creativity, and analytical thinking essential for leadership roles in mass media.

Through hands-on experience in digital labs and studios, students learn to critically analyze issues and develop a comprehensive understanding of their field. In addition to traditional academic activities, the department organizes guest lectures, conferences, workshops, industrial visits, and club events such as case conferences and film screenings to provide students with experiential learning opportunities.

HOD’s Message

In regard to learning any discipline, the willingness or readiness of the student is an essential fact. However, today’s young generation is so enthusiastic and energetic in multitasking, and problem-solving engaging themselves in their interested domain, the proper guidance and motivation from the teacher/trainer is the unavoidable reality which moulds them into a desired shape. Our well-trained, disciplined, responsible language faculties of SVPC – Arts & Humanities work sincerely every semester imparting knowledge and inculcating moral values to thousands of students from various disciplines and also our dynamic faculties of Journalism and Psychology bring an insight into the students’ minds regarding the human behaviour, better-living, social standards and safety. Moreover, I believe that the perfection of the teaching profession is in the outcome of teamwork. So, along with the subject expertise, I fully focus on the team – spirit and its related charisma.

Pallotti Press Club

The Pallotti Press Club of St. Vincent Pallotti College serves as a vibrant platform for students who have a flair for Journalism and media. With a commitment to fostering communication skills and promoting a deeper understanding of current affairs, the club provides a space for budding journalists to hone their talents. Through workshops, seminars and interactive sessions, members are equipped with the tools needed to navigate the dynamic world of media. The Press Club also plays a pivotal role in showcasing the diverse talents within the college, amplifying voices and perspectives. As a hub for creativity and information dissemination, it contributes to the overall intellectual and cultural vibrancy of St. Vincent Pallotti College.

Photography Club

Photography Club at St. Vincent Pallotti College captures the essence of visual storytelling and artistic expressions. This dynamic club is a melting pot for students who are passionate about photography, offering a platform to develop skills, share creative insights, and explore the visual language of images. ಕನ್ನಡ ವಿಭಾಗ

ನಮ್ಮ ಸಂತ ವಿನ್ಸೆಂಟ್ ಪಲ್ಲೋಟಿ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಕಲಾ ಪಯಣ ಸಂಘವನ್ನು ಕನ್ನಡ ವಿಭಾಗದ ವತಿಯಿಂದ ಅಸ್ತಿತ್ವಕ್ಕೆ ತರಲಾಯಿತು. ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಎಂದಾಕ್ಷಣ ಕನ್ನಡ ಹೇಗೆ ನೆನಪಾಗುವದೋ ಹಾಗೆ ಕಲಾಪಯಣ ಎಂದಾಕ್ಷಣ ಕಲೆಯ ಮಾರ್ಗ ಎಂದು ಅರಿಯಲಾಗುವುದು. ಕನ್ನಡ ಭಾಷೆಯ ಜ್ಞಾನ, ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಯನ್ನು ಅರ್ಥೈಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ನಿಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿಈ ಸಂಘವು ಕಾರ್ಯೋನ್ಮುಖವಾಗಿದೆ. ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಒಳಗೆ ಅಥವಾ ಹೊರಗೆ ನೆಡೆಯುವ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಯಾವುದೇ ಪ್ರಕಾರದ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಹಾಗೂ ಜ್ಞಾನ ಆಧಾರಿತ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಆಧರಿಸಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳನ್ನು ಹಮ್ಮಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಮತ್ತು ಆಯೋಜಿಸುವ ಸಲುವಾಗಿ ಈ ಸಂಘವು ಸದಾ ಮುಂದಿರುತ್ತದೆ.

ಗುರಿಗಳು

ಕನ್ನಡ ಭಾಷೆಯ ಪ್ರಚಾರ: ಮೌಖಿಕ ಮತ್ತು ಲಿಖಿತ ರೂಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡದ ಬಳಕೆಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹಿಸುವುದು, ಕನ್ನಡದ ಬೋಧನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಕಲಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಬೆಂಬಲಿಸುವುದು ಮತ್ತು ಡಿಜಿಟಲ್ ಯುಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಅದರ ನಿರಂತರ ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತತೆಯನ್ನು ಖಚಿತಪಡಿಸುವುದು.
ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಸಂರಕ್ಷಣೆ: ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯಗಳು, ಕಲೆಗಳು, ಕರಕುಶಲ, ಹಬ್ಬಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಪಾಕಶಾಲೆಯ ಅಭ್ಯಾಸಗಳು ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಶ್ರೀಮಂತ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಪರಂಪರೆಯನ್ನು ಸಂರಕ್ಷಿಸುವುದು ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಚಾರ ಮಾಡುವುದು.
ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯಿಕ ಬೆಂಬಲ: ಸಾಹಿತಿಗಳು, ಕವಿಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ವಿದ್ವಾಂಸರಿಗೆ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಸಭೆಗಳು, ಚರ್ಚೆಗಳು, ಕಾರ್ಯಾಗಾರಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ಪ್ರದಾನ ಸಮಾರಂಭಗಳನ್ನು ಆಯೋಜಿಸುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯವನ್ನು ಬೆಂಬಲಿಸುವುದು. ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಪುಸ್ತಕಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ನಿಯತಕಾಲಿಕೆಗಳ ಪ್ರಕಟಣೆ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಚಾರವೂ ಸೇರಿದೆ.
ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಮತ್ತು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿವೇತನ: ಶಿಕ್ಷಣಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ, ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಭಾಷೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ಮಾಡಲು ಬಯಸುವವರಿಗೆ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿವೇತನ ಮತ್ತು ಆರ್ಥಿಕ ಬೆಂಬಲವನ್ನು ಒದಗಿಸುವುದು.
ಸಮುದಾಯ ಕಲ್ಯಾಣ: ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ರಕ್ಷಣೆ, ಗ್ರಾಮೀಣಾಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಮತ್ತು ತುರ್ತು ಸಂದರ್ಭಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನೆರವು ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಕನ್ನಡ ಮಾತನಾಡುವ ಜನಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯನ್ನು ಬೆಂಬಲಿಸುವ ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಮತ್ತು ಸಮುದಾಯ ಕಲ್ಯಾಣ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದು.
ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ವಿನಿಮಯ: ಕನ್ನಡೇತರರಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಅರಿವು ಮೂಡಿಸಲು ಮತ್ತು ಕನ್ನಡ ಮಾತನಾಡುವ ಜನತೆಗೆ ಜಾಗತಿಕ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಆಚರಣೆಗಳನ್ನು ತರಲು ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ವಿನಿಮಯ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳನ್ನು ಸುಗಮಗೊಳಿಸುವುದು.
