About Us

The Department of Physical Education and Sports was established with an aim to provide overall fitness of the students and to deliver top quality education through modernized teaching techniques. Modernized Teaching methodology emphasis on skill development may it be any game, sports or the conduct of various academic or sports activities. Regular activities are organized to enhance event management skill of the students.

The department provides a variety of opportunities for students to improve their general health and fitness through fitness and recreational related activity classes. The main focus of the Department is on the practical exposure to Physical Education in a learner friendly atmosphere. The Department is committed to train students not only physically but also psychologically and emotionally and to prepare them to give their best in today’s competitive world.

The department provides opportunities to Physical Education students to inculcate knowledge through skill development by giving them opportunities to organize sports competition of national repute. Educational tour/camps were organized for the students to ensure exposure of conduct and organization of the events/activities. Our students participated at the University Level sports competitions and won the medals.

To provide students and faculty with exposure to learn and the faculty to interact at local, national and global level. We are committed to create and sustain the conditions that enable students to experience an innovative and inclusive education that is intellectually, socially and personally transformative.

Objectives

To train students in physical education to provide teachers, lecturers and directors for secondary schools, colleges and universities.
To prepare researchers and academic leaders in physical education & allied Sciences.
To prepare and publish literature like: scientific papers, journals & research documents.
To run in-service training courses, refresher and orientation courses in physical education and allied sciences.
To organize professional Seminars, Conferences, Workshops and Clinics for the exchange of professional experiences, information and research output.
To provide a platform for professionals for discussions, meetings and professional transactions.
To determine and prescribe its own courses of study, syllabi, restructure and redesign the courses to suit local and regional needs of society and industry.
To prescribe rules for admission in consonance with the reservation policy of the State Government.
To evolve methods of assessment of students’ performance, the conduct of examinations and notification of results.
To use modern tools of educational technology to achieve higher standards and greater creativity.
To promote healthy practices such as community service, extension activities, projects for the benefit of the society at large etc.
To promote inter-disciplinary research in the field of Physical Education, Yoga, Sports Science, Ayurveda & traditional sports, Science & technology.

Interclass Kabaddi Tournament - 2025

The Inter-Class Kabaddi Tournament, organised by the Department of Physical Education on 17th October 2025, witnessed outstanding participation and competitive spirit. Teams showcased strength, strategy, and teamwork throughout the event. The BBA department emerged as champions after an impressive performance. Bcom department (Girls) has won the title in Kabbadi girls round. The tournament reflected enthusiasm and athletic excellence across the college.

Interclass Kho Kho Tournament - 2025

Thrills, chases, and cheers filled the College Ground today as the Inter-Class Boys/ Girls’ Kho-Kho Tournament 2025 was successfully conducted by the Department of Physical Education on 25th October 2025. The event showcased impressive skill, agility, and strategy from all participating teams. Congratulations to the B.Com Department for emerging as champions and to the BCA Department for securing the runners-up position. It was a spirited day that truly celebrated teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship across the college.

Interclass Cricket Tournament - 2025

A thrilling day of cricket unfolded at St. Vincent Pallotti College as the Inter-Class Cricket Tournament took center stage on 24th October 2025. Every team showcased skill, strategy, and determination on the field. The BCA Final Year team claimed the championship title, while the B.Com First Year team finished as proud runners-up. A day that truly celebrated the spirit of the game!

Chess Tournament - 2025

Chess Tournament for Degree students showcased sharp intellect and strategic brilliance. Students battled mind-to-mind in a test of focus, logic, and patience. The event not only encouraged critical thinking but also celebrated the spirit of healthy competition and sportsmanship.

Inter Class Volleyball - 2025

The Interclass Volleyball Tournament held on 30th August 2025 at St. Vincent Pallotti College witnessed thrilling matches and spirited participation from various departments. Showcasing exceptional teamwork, skill, and determination, the BBA Department emerged as the champions, securing a well-deserved victory. The event truly reflected the enthusiasm and sportsmanship of Pallottians.

Inter Class Football Tournament - 2025

The Inter Class Football Tournament was held on 13th September, 2025 with great enthusiasm. The event brought out the best of teamwork, strategy, and sportsmanship. The BBA Department proudly lifted the winners’ trophy, marking a memorable day of football action.
