On Wednesday, 5th June 2024, the NSS, NCC, YRCS, and SWO jointly organized a remarkable event on the occasion of World Environment Day, themed “Land Restoration, Stopping Desertification, and Building Drought Resilience.”

 

The event was presided over by Rev. Fr. Gilbert Mascarenhas SAC, Director, along with Dr. E. Jerome Xavier, Principal and Rev. Fr. Marvin Frank, Vice Principal. In his address, Rev. Fr. Gilbert emphasized the importance of protecting the environment not just within the campus but also extending their efforts to the broader public. He urged the students to become Ambassadors of Environmental Stewardship, highlighting the significance of their role in influencing societal change.

 

Following his inspiring words, Fr. Gilbert Mascarenhas ceremoniously flagged off the Rally, marking the commencement of the day’s activities. The rally, which started from the SVPC campus and proceeded to HBR Layout, saw enthusiastic participation from students and faculty alike, symbolizing their commitment to environmental sustainability.

 

In addition to the rally, the students creatively showcased their dedication to environmental protection through an engaging Flash Mob. This dynamic performance not only captivated the audience but also conveyed powerful messages about the importance of preserving our natural surroundings.

 

The event was a testament to the collaborative spirit of the participating organizations and highlighted the pivotal role of youth in driving environmental conservation efforts. Through activities like these, the SVPC community continues to foster awareness and inspire action towards a more sustainable future.
